Mid-Year Pulse: Checking in With Your Goals

Remember those goals you made earlier this year? What are they, again?

Back in January, we created our goals for this year. For a refresher, here is the link to the original blog post.

Now that it has been six months since we first created our goals, let’s revisit them and see where we’re at. Six months have definitely flown by, but we still have half of the year to pursue our goals!

You may be feeling one of these two things:

  1. Excited. Because you’ve been 100% on top of your goals and you remind yourself on the daily to work on them.
  2. Terrified. Because you’ve been focusing your energy on other things and have not given a second glance at your goals.

Of course, you may fall somewhere in between these two extremes. Whatever you are feeling right now – it is 100%, absolutely fine. Allow yourself to accept and acknowledge what you’re currently feeling.

We are here to uplift and encourage you to achieve your own success. You choose your own happiness, whatever that may look like for you. Do not compare your success to others because it’ll rob yourself of your happiness. Focus on your own path.

Now, let’s revisit your goals.

For each goal you set out for yourself at the start of the year, write down your answers to these questions:

1. Where am I at with this goal? If The goal is not complete, answer questions #2 and #3.

2. What positive or negative factors contributed to how I’m doing with this goal?

3. Is this still a relevant goal to pursue?

Question #3 is important to ask yourself, because your goals can evolve and transform over time. Some priorities that you’ve thought were important to you at the beginning of the year may no longer be relevant. Those international travel plans you made? Given COVID-19, consider them cancelled and moved to next year!

So, it’s very likely that your goals have changed since the beginning of the year. My goals definitely have!

For this mid-year pulse, we are trying to check-in with our initial goals. But, if you added additional goals after you made your initial ones, you can also apply this exercise to those goals.

This exercise really helps me put things into perspective. Keep in mind that you still have the rest of the year to start making strides towards them. As long as you are growing, that is all that matters.
