Half a year has gone by, and what’s next?

Happy Fourth of July!
It’s been a wild 2020 already. We’re already halfway through the year! While I acknowledge that I’ve done many things this first half of the year, in other ways, I feel that I haven’t done anything at all.
I know that as the years continue to pass by, our lifestyles become more routine-like and incredibly familiar to us. We don’t do as many things that are new or novel. For those who enjoy having a routine, this might be comforting. And for others, not as much.
But, let’s imagine our lifestyles 10 years from now. How will they change?
Will we talk about the “scary days,” when a global pandemic happened? Or, will those “scary days” dawn on us more frequently?
How will history be transformed? Or, should I say, how will history books preserve this time of uncertainty? Will an entire chapter be written about it or, merely, a couple of sentences?
How will our lives pivot?
How will our lives pivot? In light of COVID-19, I think it’s fair to say that our lives will never be the same. Will we still be wearing face masks covering our nose and mouth 10 years from now? Will hugs and handshakes be something that’ll be frowned upon?
Of course, I hope our lives will get better. It needs to get better, so we can have hope for a future and for a better tomorrow. But, why does it seem that as advances in technology and medicine continue to be made, the world becomes a more frightening place?
Perhaps the Netflix shows of artificial intelligence, sci-fi, and imaginary futuristic developments are getting to my head, but if we ever get to that point beyond the scope of today’s scientific developments, it appears as if future troubles will continue to arise.
Back then, people dreamed of unimaginable things, which are now seen as normalized ways of behavior. What new things will be normalized in the future?
Food for thought. Let me what you think in the comments.
